Apollo 11 – One Small Step for Man. . . One Giant Leap for Man Kind

It was forty years ago today… Well not today but certainly this month.

Mom and I were at home, on West Broadway, when Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins walked on the moon. As luck would have it, our color tv blew a tube which we couldn’t get fixed until the live television broadcast was over.

Even so, I never had any doubts that it was real. I was, indeed, a child of the sixties. Space travel was a dream we all grew up with.

Now, 40 years later, we can only wonder whatever happened to that future. Man walked on the moon a mere 66 years after the Wright Brothers early flights at Kitty Hawk. Will the next 26 years, or so, reveal another great leap into worlds beyond our own?
